Due to the unforeseen circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, we announce the unfortunate but necessary restructuring of the 2020 Gathering of Friends planned for Thursday, May 28, 2020 at Glen Island Harbour Club. As with most other things in our new reality, this event will need to become "virtual,” a Gathering-of-Friends wherein we cannot be together in person, but we will be together in faith, love and support.
We are deeply sorry for not being able to celebrate as a community as planned, but safety and well-being are paramount during this crisis. Why a virtual event and not just cancel? The success of GOF2020 is perhaps more critical than in any previous year, as unprecedented needs have arisen out of these unprecedented times. Proceeds help fund scholarships which will help families struggling as never before. And a healthy ministry means church, school and community support can continue to a world in desperate need.
We also have some wonderful prizes donated by our supporters and we could use some fun, even if virtual. We hope to bring smiles to our community.
Our virtual event will also give us a way to honor our deserving Community Champions, Vincent and Denise DeGiaimo.
So, starting Wednesday, May 20, our Roarin' 20s event will be a virtual online auction that will conclude on Thursday, May 28.
We hope and pray that you and your family are well. We look forward to our virtual event and as we celebrate God’s faithfulness and the faithfulness of our amazing church and school community.
With our deepest gratitude for your understanding, kindness and support,
Kathleen Donaghy and Michelle Oliva
